I want to Volunteer!

Volunteering or interning at HOME Line is a great experience.  We have a variety of opportunities for you to be involved with, ranging from: staffing our tenant hotline, helping door-knock and organize renters to collectively address substandard housing or keep rents affordable, and/or working on public policy issues and engaging tenants to affect laws that protect renters and promote affordable housing options.  If you are interested in tenant organizing, public policy internships, or longer-term tenant hotline projects/internships, please check out this page.  If you are looking to volunteer on our tenant hotline and receive free legal training, please continue reading.

Our tenant hotline is staffed by volunteers. While the hotline is available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday thorough Thursday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, our volunteers usually spend three hour shifts answering questions and returning calls.

If you’d like to help, you can donate your time and effort. Volunteers gain valuable experience as we help educate them about tenant/landlord law.

If you are interested or have questions about volunteering, please contact Deb Riebel at (612) 728-5770 (x109) or at debr@homelinemn.org.

You can submit your information online if you wish to volunteer, and our volunteer coordinator will contact you about our free legal tenant/landlord law training (these trainings are also advertised on our main page).

All volunteers are required to attend our free training in advance of serving on the hotline.
